CAMSS30 is widely depended on to support troops around the world. Over 2,500 shelters have been deployed from the extreme heat of the Middle East to the freezing temperatures of Alaska. The CAMSS30’s superior engineering has proven to hold up in extensive U.S. government lab tests and repeatedly in the field under extreme environments.
“(CAMSS30) design reduced the C-130 airlift burden by 66%; reduced set up time to 3-4 hrs from 15 hrs normally required for previous shelter systems and met our temperature requirements in accordance with the performance specifications.”
The California Medium Shelter System (CAMSS30) is the Official Medium Shelter System of the United States Air Force and is an integral part of all BEAR Base Shelter Packages.
The complete shelter system fits on one 463L pallet position. The container is forkliftable and stackable. It may be shipped by air, truck or ship. The complete packed container weighs 4,570 pounds.
The California Medium Shelter System erects in less than four hours with six personnel. Color coding, aluminum frame, interchangeable parts, and a logical assembly sequence make the shelter easy to erect. System includes verified technical manual with illustrations.

The California Medium Shelter System (CAMSS30) is deployed world wide to extreme climates From -55 to 130 degrees Fahrenheit.
The California Medium Shelter is in use as command centers, communication facilities, billeting, recreation centers, community centers, transit centers, offices, custom processing, kitchens, dining rooms, commissaries, house keeping, flight line support, maintenance shops, warehousing, UAV hangars and fire engine houses.
The success of the California Medium Shelter System comes from extensive development through engineering and Government laboratory testing.
Contract Effort Description:
This contract was a small business set-a-side, written IAW Commercial Buy (FAR Part 23) procedures. CAMSS was required to provide a product sample as part of the proposals submitted in response to RFP. Product samples were subjected to critical demonstrating testing. The CAMSS-provided shelter met or exceeded all requirements of the initial testing. A complete proposal evaluation was conducted during a ‘best value’ source selection. CAMSS was awarded a 10 year contract. Upon contract award, the shelter was subjected to severe laboratory and climatic testing. In addition, a complete, detailed, controlled, operational test and evaluation was conducted by AFOTEC. Upon successful completion of these tests and evaluations, a production option was exercises.
Quotes from the CAMSS Contractor Performance Assessment Report (CPAR):
"We are in the last year of a ten year contract and CAMSS continues to provide a quality product. Their medium shelter system (CAMSS30) meets and in some cases exceeds all the required performance parameters identified in the contract, with no deficiencies reported. Their design reduced the C-130 airlift burden by 66%; reduced the set up time to 3-4 hrs from 15 hrs normally required for previous shelter systems and met our temperature requirements in accordance with the performance specifications. The CAMSS30 provides increased operational capabilities and flexibility of the war fighter in our time of need."
"CAMSS has always exceeded the AF delivery schedule and continues to meet all contract and administrative requirements within the contract."
"CAMSS has continued to maintain a very good business relationship since the beginning of the contract and is quick to respond to the AF needs."
"CAMSS has always ensured the appropriate staffing was available for any contractual requirements, design changes, installation data or technical help if needed. They continue to work closely with the government in all interactions."
"Given what I know today about the Contractor’s ability to execute what they promised in their proposal, I would award to them today given that I had a choice."
